Noor, an archaeologist, lives in a camp in Ramallah. One day, he finds a blue identity card in the pocket of an old coat and puts on the mask of the occupier in an attempt to understand the nuances of the Zionist mindset.

As Noor transforms into Or and joins an excavation mission in one of the settlements, the buried Palestine with all its history becomes evident under the soil. In the space between Noor and Or, between Noor and his new love, between the blue identity card and the permit, between the marginalized original narrative and the prevailing fabricated one, will Noor succeed in removing the mask and defeating Or, perhaps reaching the light?

A Mask, the Color of the Sky,  is a novel that takes you on a unique journey, born from the womb of suffering and defying the constraints of occupation to reach the heart of the reader. It was written by the imprisoned Palestinian writer Bassam Khundakji, a free-spirited young man who engages with reality through his thoughts and creativity. Like a piece of Palestinian Tatreez ,  A Mask, the Color of the Sky  is filled with images that embody the past in its corners and engage with the present with realism and depth. It is a bold novel that dares to dream and imagine, inviting the reader to join in confronting the Israeli occupying entity and embracing the Palestinian voice in all its details, both painful and beautiful.
